With Brabender’s single- and twin-screw extruders, trials for product and recipe development of noodles, snack foods, animal and fish feeds, and meat substitute products can be carried out under realistic process conditions on a laboratory scale.
The Brabender TwinLab-F 20/40 D is a twin-screw extruder with co-rotating intermeshing screws for the production of food and feed products on a laboratory scale. It can be applied for the development of recipes, and the investigation and evaluation of extrusion processes with different test parameters. This extruder allows numerous cold extrusion, hot extrusion, and high-moisture extrusion applications to be realized. This makes it particularly suited to the production of many different samples and small batches. For instance, the throughput range for meat substitute products is between 2 – 20 kg/h.
The TwinLab-F 20/40 stands out for its compact design, its two-part liner the upper half of which can fold away, and high flexibility of process design. Up- and downstream equipment like die heads, pumps, and feeders are available for different processes to be simulated at lab scale.
