PPIC – Growth and Commitment to Innovation and Discovery in the Plant Protein Space

2020 was a year filled with turmoil, uncertainty, and frustrations. However, the Plant Protein Innovation Center (PPIC) at the University of Minnesota remained vibrant.

PPIC, the first center of its kind in the nation, gained a steep growth in membership with 13 new members, reaching a total of 25 partners across the supply chain (processors, suppliers, and CPG companies). This growth marks the unwavering commitment to innovation and discovery in the plant protein space.

The 2nd Annual Research Spotlight Meeting was held virtually last November 2020, which attracted 275 delegates from 95 global industries, organizations, and institutions. Attendance was twice as much as the first annual meeting back in 2019. The meeting featured presentations from renowned plant-protein research experts and facilitated virtual networking sessions.

Upcoming PPIC Events

  • PPIC 3rd Request for Proposals – April 2021
  • Industry Focused – Research Planning Meeting – Early Fall 2021
  • Protein Basics Short Course – Early Fall 2021
