Dirk has more than 20 years of experience in the food industry, and with his knowledge and expertise, Dirk is an invaluable member of the board. What has moved Dirk to join the Advisory Board, and what can the EcoSystem do for others in the industry from his point of view? Read on to learn more!
Why are you a member of the Advisory Board?
I feel very honored about the invitation to the advisory board of the Bridge2Food EcoSystem. I am very convinced that the EcoSystem has the potential to improve the sustainability of our food system over the whole value chain from the farm level towards the consumer. I will use the seat in the Advisory Board to represent the voice of B2C operations.
What has the EcoSystem done for you?
The EcoSystem has been formed to become a worldwide network of research and development leaders of companies and institutions which are involved and engaged in the transition towards a more sustainable food system on this planet. The EcoSystem is a place where we can discuss and develop ideas on a pre-competitive level towards this goal.
Why is your organisation a partner?
Building a more sustainable food system for this planet is for me personally a very important task. That’s why I am working in the food industry. I think the food system can only be improved by cooperation through the whole value chain while being supported by science and legislation. The EcoSystem enables us to cooperate on that level.
What do you think the EcoSystem can do for others in the field?
The combination of the unique worldwide network of different partners in the complete food value chain and the support of leading research institutes enables us to work faster and more precisely on the current challenges within the plant-based food value chain.

About Dirk Herrmann-Bürk
Dirk is the Head of the R&D department and is responsible for New Product Development and Technology at Simply V. He has been involved and dedicated to the development of plant-based cheese and dairy alternatives since 2014, the year before the company E.V.A. was founded and the brand Simply V was created. Before that, Dirk worked for 10 Years in the cheese industry in different positions which were all related to cheese and dairy technology and new product development. Dirk has a background in dairy technology and started his career with vocational training in a small local dairy in 1995. He studied European business administration and psychology.
